Get To Know Our Camp Dream Team

Posted - April 12, 2021

Summer 2021 is going to be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Want to know why?  Because we have a dream team leading the way for our kids to be free, have fun, and enjoy themselves in a way that they haven’t been able to do so ALL YEAR LONG!

We know the past year has been a real doozy.  There has been so much change.  Our kids have had to deal with a tremendous amount of stress & anxiety.  Camp is the place to let that all go away.  It’s the place to make friends. Find new activities that make you smile. Discover things about yourself you didn’t know before. Explore, have fun, and just be!

This year, we are shakin’ it up in a whole new way. And, as our marketing has been stating we are making this summer bigger, bolder, and better than ever.  To make good on this promise we are fortunate to have two incredible women grace us with their talents and leadership skills, pathing the way for spectacular summer experiences.

Let’s meet the DREAM TEAM that is going to change camp for the better and make an impact on your children’s lives for good!

Top 10 Things:

  • I have lived in NY, VA, MD, NJ, and now FL
  • I believe vacations only happen when the weather in the destination is warmer than where you started
  • I performed on the stage at Carnegie Hall in High School
  • I am an alumna and fan of the Miami Hurricanes
  • My oldest daughter is about to start school at Florida State (see number 4 )
  • I am a dog person
  • I am an only child
  • I am a dance mom (but not like the ones on the TV show)
  • My younger daughter is better at fashion, accessories, and hair than I am
  • My family is super excited to be moving to Orlando

My 3 goals for the summer:

  • Create an environment where campers can reinvent themselves and be anyone they choose
  • Create a meaningful and fun experience for the staff
  • Send them all home dirty, tired, and smelly – and do it all again the next day

Why is camp so important for children?

Camp creates an environment unlike any other place in the world.  Campers and staff learn and grow in ways they don’t even expect.  The dancer tries soccer, the introvert screams the team cheer and everyone wants more.   Live 10 for 2!

What is your favorite part of camp?

My favorite part of camp is Color War.  Healthy competition is a huge part of growing up.  Campers will learn to win and lose with grace.

Top 10 Things:

  • I was born in Minnesota
  • Until moving to Florida have always lived in a place where it snowed in the winter
  • I have never been to the west coast
  • When I was in college I got to see the Dalai Lama speak at my school
  • I love to drink seltzer and love when polar comes out with their seasonal varieties
  • I love baking and would love to be on one of those baking shows on the food channel
  • One day I would love to take a road trip across America and visit restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
  • I have a younger sister
  • Camp is my happy place and I have spent over half my life going to and working at summer camp
  • If I could travel anywhere in the world I would go to Australia

My 3 goals for the summer:

  • Have weekly theme dress-up days
  • To teach everyone the Octopus song (it’s a great flagpole/beginning of the day song)
  • Fun camp special events – scavenger hunts, Olympics, Human board games

Why is camp so important for children?

Camp is so important for children because it gives them a place to learn new skills, develop lifelong friendships, try new activities/take a risk and most of all it gives children a place to just have fun and be themselves

What is your favorite part of camp?

My favorite part of camp is the moment when campers step onto camp each day with a smile on their face ready to fully enjoy the camp day ahead of them
