JCC Maccabi Games
Join over 1,000 Jewish teens from around the world this summer at the JCC Maccabi Games®—an international sporting event for Jewish teens between 13–16 years old. All athletes are home-housed and get to experience the massive nighttime social events. Picture Bar/Bat Mitzvah parties with over 1,000 Jewish teens!
JCC Select Youth Basketball
The JCC Select Basketball Team Program offers teens ages 18 and younger the opportunity to represent the JCC in a meaningful, competitive, and organized basketball experience.
Social & Service
A program of the JCC in partnership with BBYO, Tayarim Connect brings teens in grades 6-8 together for social, Judaic and community service programs. These programs offer teens a variety of experiences to help bridge the gap between pre- and post-Bar/Bat Mitzvah and high school. The purpose is to provide middle school students with a positive experience in which they can get together with camp, school, and synagogue friends, as well as meet new friends! North Florida Region BBYO
BBYO is a pluralistic youth-led organization open to all Jewish teens in the 9th through 12th grade, and offers a BBYO Connection programs for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. BBYO provides opportunities for Jewish youth to develop their leadership potential, a positive Jewish identity and commitment to their personal development. Based at The Roth Family JCC, the North Florida Region (NFR) spans from Jacksonville to the North and Ft. Myers on the South West. NFR currently has several active chapters in Orlando (four active chapters in Maitland, South Orlando and East Orlando/Oviedo), Sarasota, Tampa and Naples and is made up of unique programming for boys Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA), and B’nai B’rith Girls (BBG). J-Serve, the National Day of Jewish Youth Service, is a program created by teens for teens. Community service and social action events are planned by teens and held locally every spring. For more information, contact Lory Conte at 407-621-4032. The date of J-Serve 2015 is April 12.
Tayarim Teen Travel Camp includes exciting days at the JCC on Mondays and Fridays (including electives), local field trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and community service projects around the community on Wednesdays. Plus, teens will venture off on an overnight trip outside of our JCC once per two-week session.
Camp J’s Counselors-in-Training Program contains 3 core components: leadership training, hands-on counselor skills guidance, and fun, social programming. Each two-week session will focus on a new topic and the opportunity to work with different age-groups at camp. CITs will also have the opportunity to partake in special camp electives created just for them! Full two-week registration required. Upon successful completion of each 2-week CIT Program, participants will receive a minimum of 45 community service hours and automatic consideration for the highly competitive Assistant Counselor positions at Camp J the following summer.
High school students entering grades 11 and 12 are eligible to apply to become Assistant Counselors at Camp J.
