Yeladim Musical Theater: Grades 2-3

Yeladim Musical Theater is a track for young campers who have an interest in the performing arts. Their mornings will be spent developing their theater skills and learning music and choreography, and their afternoons will feature the best that Camp J has to offer. They will perform their own show-stopping number and appear in the finales of This is The Greatest Show Camp and Disney’s Aladdin, The Musical. Campers in our Musical Theater unit also enjoy Camp J favorites, like swim, song session, and limited field trips on Thursdays.

4-week Session: $1,150 ($1,040 for JCC members)

The Camp Day      

  • Each day starts with singing camp songs around the American and Israeli flags.
  • Includes activities like arts & crafts, athletics, drama, music, nature (teva), playground time, science discovery, video production, gaga (Israeli dodgeball), Israeli culture, and of course—swimming.  
  • Pizza lunch is provided on Mondays & Fridays.
  • We close each day with our Song Session—an interactive concert led by our expert song leaders.  
  • Song Session ends every day with Camper Awards and on Fridays with a special Shabbat (Sabbath) program.  

Performance Schedule

  • This is The Greatest Show:  Sunday, June 30, 2:00pm & Monday, July 1, 7:00pm
    Campers will participate in Color War July 1 – 3, including the field trip & overnight, and Red, White, and Blue day on Friday, July 5.
     
  • Disney's Aladdin: Sunday, July 28, 2:00pm & Monday, July 29, 7:00pm
    Campers will participate in the field trip on Thursday., August 1 and the End-of-Summer Show on Friday, August 2.

Led by the Best

  • Our counselor and specialist positions are highly selective.  
  • Our team is comprised of an incredible group of elementary education majors, Jewish campus leaders, school teachers, and Camp J alumni. 
  • They annually complete 40 hours of specialized training, including First Aid & CPR, to ensure your camper has the most rewarding and safe experience possible.     
  • Campers get to know our “shliach,” a young emissary from Israel, who teaches about Israel using a wide variety of activities which celebrate Jewish heritage.

Making a Splash

  • Structured swim three times per week with American Red Cross-trained Water Safety Instructors (Yeladim Musical Theater only.)
  • Free swim once per week.  

Musical Theater: Grades 4-9

Camp J: Musical Theater, produced in partnership with Theatre South Playhouse encourages campers to explore their imaginations and work within an ensemble to create vivid characters and be part of an exciting musical theater production. Each four-week session ends with two public performances of a professionally produced musical show with costumes, sets, and music in our on-campus Harriett & Hymen Lake Cultural Auditorium. This summer’s productions are This is the Greatest Show Camp, a musical tribute to the hit movie The Greatest Showman (Sessions I & II) and Disney’s Aladdin, The Musical (Sessions III & IV). Campers in our Musical Theater unit also enjoy Camp J favorites, like swim, song session, and limited field trips on Thursdays.

4-Week Session: $1,210 ($1,110 for JCC members)

  • The majority of the day is spent rehearsing for the shows -- giving the perfect introduction to the theater world.
  • Pizza lunch is provided on Mondays & Fridays.
  • We close each day with our Song Session—an interactive concert led by our expert song leader.  
  • Song Session ends every day with Camper Awards and on Fridays with a special Shabbat (Sabbath) program.
