Our school is home to a local gem called Shayna’s Village, which has provided parent & me and young child enrichment classes since 1994. These classes, taught in a kid-size village, are for both parent and child, while others are just for children.
At Shayna’s Village, your child will have the chance to practice using manners and social skills. We believe in empowering children and helping them gain confidence to handle new situations. Shayna’s Village is open to the community, regardless of whether you are enrolled in the school or have a JCC membership.
Types of Classes
Classes like First Impressionists, Baby Rock, and Nursery Rhyme Time are designed to give parents and caregivers a chance to spend meaningful time with their child while bonding and learning together.
Mind & Manners
These classes are designed to give children a chance to practice using manners and social skills while eating lunch in the “café” followed by activities that enhance their minds. Examples of these classes include Artistic Creations, What’s Cooking? and Music Mania.
Classes such as Alphabet Adventure, Lights, Camera, Action!, Bon Appetit! and In the Garden empower children by engaging them in activities that promote cooperation, original thought, creativity and life skills.
Free Family Fridays
Fridays are a special time at Shayna’s Village, as we offer a number of free parent-child experiences to JCC and Shayna’s Village members. The morning includes Stories & Snuggles with guest storytellers, Lunch Dates with your little ones, and then a Music Concert to cap off the morning. Come to one of these classes, or spend the whole morning with us – it’s up to you!
J University Junior
We offer preschool extracurricular classes, including keyboarding, music, karate, dance, soccer and tennis.
For part-time students, J University Junior gives parents an extra hour or two before pick-up, as the classes are scheduled at the end of the part-time day. J University Junior is also ideal for full-time students, exposing them to more specialized instruction and exploration, as well as for children who do not attend preschool, by providing them with a social and cognitive experience in a group setting.
Classes are open to the community, regardless of whether you are enrolled in the school or have a JCC membership.
